About our choir:

Back in 1934, a group of enthusiastic German immigrants from the Stuttgart area got together to form a "Saengerfreundschaft" in an effort to upkeep the German songs they knew from back home.

Before long, the name "Schwaebischer Maennerchoir" was chosen, given that most founding members originated from "Schwabenland", the greater Stuttgart area.  Hermann Reichert was elected the first president and Victor Balluff served as the first music director.  Mr. Balluff remained actually the music director for 38 yrs over the initial time span of 40 years of the existence of the choir.

On Saturday, May 5th, 1934, the first concert was performed by the choir. Ever since, the choir performs an annual concert and participates in a number of other cultural events, generally supporting other clubs and groups who cherish German culture and tradition.

Currently the choir has approximately 50 active members.  Under the musical direction of Erwin Aufdemberge, the choir continues to live up to it's primary mission, namely to upkeep and propagate the German song, keep up the continuous choral training and in the process, maintain German language skills and also enjoy a good deal of German social life (aka. Gemuetlichkeit)
